Thunderstone Pictures is holding an acting and casting workshop this weekend and they are scouring the area for potential actors to attend Sunday at the Finlandia Club. Thunderstone Pictures is a local company that is trying to develop an acting base of First Nations youth in Thunder Bay and area for future film productions. Co-owner Michelle Derosier says their mission is to make films about issues that are pertinent and important to First Nations. She says the aboriginal youth suicide rate is five to six times higher than the national average and she hopes acting and film making can make a difference. ”We’re doing this to provide an alternative for youth: to use their creative side and to empower them and maybe saving a life.
