Neumann at Manhattanville and Utica – It’s early but the Knights need to pick up some points after one-goal losses to Elmira and Hobart. They’ve had almost two weeks to rest and prepare. Adrian at Finlandia – Matt Webb does a nice job in his column. Adrian has ramped up quickly and it will be interesting to see how they fare against the reigning league champs.

He was a very complex man dark probably depressive one can hear that in his music; one can hear his pain and struggle. ” Gomyo described Sibelius’ score markings as “almost a mind-boggling journey into how he must have felt and perfectly reflective of the Finnish landscape” which by the way is very similar to the blue blue waters and dark green forests of Northwestern ntario. Also on stage will be the combined voices close to 130 in all of the TBS Chorus the Finnish Male Choir tava the Ladies’ Choir ras and the Hilldale Lutheran Church Choir singing Sibelius’ epic masterpiece Finlandia. Like a jeweled introduction to this crowning peak the night begins with The Captive Queen a musical allegory of Finland’s captivity under the Russian Empire. “Imagine a queen captured and held in a tower singing her forlorn song until an army rises up and liberates her from her prison” remarked Moull. In the program notes we read that Sibelius had it in mind to name his work The Liberated Queen but knew that would be politically much too dangerous. Finally the orchestra deviates from Sibelius this night but not really.
