But like drinkers everywhere Russians buy imported spirits too. Since they supposedly know all about vodka a vodka that Russians would choose to import would have to be pretty special don’t you think? So what premium imported vodka do they like the most? Finlandia. Made in Finland but owned by American spirits-maker Brown-Forman Finlandia Vodka recently passed the three-million-case milestone. Traditionally in the liquor business annual sales of one-million cases or more is the threshold for being considered a major brand so three-million and above is a very exclusive club. What is perhaps even more impressive is that Finlandia’s growth has come mostly from the historic heartland of vodka production and consumption Central and Eastern Europe including Russia and Poland. The brand has enjoyed double-digit growth every year since Brown-Forman bought it four years ago. Finlandia’s flavored vodkas have been a big part of that success in particular Finlandia Grapefruit Fusion which was launched in 2006.

Robert Gutke with 15 Brian Diorio with 13 and Andy Brice with nine also contributed to Silver Lake’s balanced attack which offset 35 points from Finlandia’s Tyler Gordon.

Maybe it was the eloquence of the bama speech or the music. Maybe it was the message that went out across the world. ne of my favorite pieces of music is “Finlandia” by Jean Sibelius. Some of the words by Lloyd Stone seem fitting in this American revival period. They speak of how Americans should see other lands: “But other lands have sunlight too and cloverAnd skies are everywhere as blue as mine. I think we should remember that every part of our own land has skies as blue as ours and yearns for the opportunities that most of us have. A land of freedom a word we sometimes limit to selfish definitions.
