But the Finns have got more than that. There's sahti a traditional ale flavored with juniper berries and three liquors apparently worth trying: lakka which is made from cloudberrie; polar from cranberries; and mesimarja (not sure what that's made of). There's a liquorice vodka called salmiakkikossu that's popular. >.

The Sudbury Finnish Rest Home Society Inc. which operates the Finlandia Village complex is seeking federal and provincial housing subsidies for the proposed development. The proposed complex would cater to a growing demographic — seniors who need affordable housing as well as support services to help live with a degree of independence said Brian Koivu chairman of the Finnish Rest Home Society’s board of directors. The group is among several private and non-profit organizations that have indicated an interest in affordable housing grants being offered by the federal and provincial governments.
