Finn Day events set for Saturday in Chisholm

(AP) – A Finn will fit right in at the Minnesota Discovery Center on Saturday in the Iron Range town of Chisholm (CHIZ’-um). That’s because it’s Finn Day featuring Finnish music food song and dance. The activities include a performance by the Finlandia Foundation’s performer of the year Terhi Miikki who plays piano accordion organ and bassoon. Visitors can also taste Finnish food including a traditional fish or beef stew observe the art of making straw ornaments and figures and see a demonstration using birch bark. Debra Rowbottom is the director of visitor services at Minnesota Discovery Center.
